THE RATING SYSTEM OF CIVIL SERVICE EXAM

More likely, you are curious on how the civil service commission computes the rating of the exam?

You should atleast get an average of 80.00% to pass the Philippine Civil Service Exam.

First, the civil service exam composed of the following:

Part 1: English
-Verbal Abilities
-Grammar and correct usage
-Paragraph Organization
-reading comprehension
-sorting of names

Part 2:
-Clerical Operation ( Sub-pro Only)
-Analogy (professional)
-Logical Reasoning(professional)

Part 3: Mathematics
-numerical reasoning
-fraction, decimal points, percentage, algebra etc....
-Problem Solving

Part 4: General Information
-Philippine Constitution
-Current events and Environmental Issues
-Code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials and employees.

Here is how it is computed.  The first three parts weighs 95% and the last part which is the General information weighs 5% only.

Supposed you earned 81.30% in part 1, 82.70% in part 2 and then  80.20% in part 3 (math!!!) and 82.80 on the last part,

First you have to do is get the average of the first three part and then multuply it by .95

So, 81.30+82.70+80.20=244.2 then divide it by 3 to get the average=81.40 multiply by .95 will give you an answer of 77.33.

Then the last part which is general info you got 82.80 multiply by .05 = 4.14

Add 77.33 to 4.14 = 81.47

"81.47" is your general average!

Well if you got an average of 79.99% and below then, you failed the exam. You should atleast get 80.00%.

But here is the fact!! Dont be afraid of taking the exam!

You should know that the you dont need to get 80% of all the questions correct, it does not work that way. CSC will rate you based on your rank. Yes it is not a percentage on how many correct answer you got but it is a ranking battle. CSC has a quota that only 11-12% will passed the exam. Those who got the most correct answer per subject will be ranked and only the first 12% will passed and will be rated from 80.00% and so on regardless of their scores.

I am pretty sure about that, you know what, I already took the Civil Service Exam and it blew  my brain that after the exam I felt like half of my brain cells were dead. After the exam I am not sure if I passed it or not, because im pretty sure that I only got 50% sure correct answers in all of the exam questions, that's how hard it was.

Well because it is not a percentage but a ranking, then I passed the exam. If it is a percentage then definitely I failed because I am sure I only got 50%. That's how it is.

I will be posting my rating here but by this time, I only knew I passed the exam, ratings will be out on December 18, 2016 so I am still waiting to see my rating. I have taken the exam last October 23, 2016 at Sta Cruz Laguna. Ill post it later as I update this Blog.
